Kannappa, which is one of the most ambitious Telugu movie of 2025, has finally arrived in theatres. The movie is based on the legend of Kannappa, who was a devotee of Lord Shiva. Vishnu Manchu stars in the titular role.

According to Sacnilk, Kannappa opened to an impressive Rs 9.35 crore net and Rs 11 crore gross in India on Day 1, along with an additional Rs 2 crore from overseas markets bringing its global Day 1 total to Rs 13 crore. However, despite being a Saturday, Day 2 saw a dip, with the film earning an estimated Rs 5.94 crore net in India.

Still, with a total of Rs 15.29 crore net domestically, Kannappa is already well on track to becoming Vishnu Manchu’s highest grossing film to date surpassing the lifetime collections of all his previous releases.

Released in five languages Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi the film has seen its strongest traction in the Telugu speaking markets so far.

For Vishnu Manchu, this success is particularly significant. His previous films Ginna and Mosagallu struggled at the box office, failing to cross even Rs 1 crore in total earnings. His last notable opener was 2014’s Rowdy, which earned Rs 3 crore on Day 1 and finished its first week around Rs 11 crore.

Kannappa stars Vishnu Manchu, Mohan Babu, R. Sarathkumar, Arpit Ranka, Brahmanandam, Brahmaji, Siva Balaji, Kaushal Manda, Rahul Madhav, Devaraj, Mukesh Rishi, Raghu Babu, Preity Mukhundhan and Madhoo.

Director Mukesh Kumar Singh, talking about his vision for Kannappa, said, “Kannappa is more than just a story; it is a tribute to faith, devotion, and the power of transformation. Every frame has been meticulously crafted to bring this legendary tale to life in a way that resonates with modern audiences while staying true to its roots. We are excited for the world to experience the grandeur of Kannappa.”

Mohanlal is seen as Kirata, Prabhas as Rudra, Akshay Kumar as Lord Shiva and Kajal Aggarwal as Goddess Parvati.
