It seems that the second wave of Covid-19 has brought in heaps of bad news not only for the general public but for the film fraternity too. The number of deaths has increased manifold due to the virus.

One of the senior Kannada actors, Shankanada Aravind has passed away due to Covid-19. The actor had contracted the virus around 10 days back and was admitted to the Victoria hospital in Bengaluru.

Though the actor was under Covid treatment, today, on May 07, 2021, he complained of difficulty in breathing and subsequently breathed his last when his body did not respond to the treatment.

Aravind was 70-years-old and recently lost his wife Rama, who was a playback singer in Kannada cinema. He was survived by three children.

Aravind, in his career, has acted in many famous Kannada movies like Anubhava, Aguntaka, Bettada Hoovu, Aparichita, Shankanada, Gnana Gange, etc. He was close to late actor Kashinath.

He can be remembered well for his acting along with Puneeth Rajkumar in the film Bettada Hoovu for which Puneeth had received the best child actor national award.

He had played the role of conch blower in the movie Shankanada and became very popular due to the character and hence, the name “Shankanada” was attached before his name. The veteran actor is known mostly for his comic and supportive roles and has acted in over 200 movies in his entire career.

For the past several days, the virus is spreading like wildfire and a lot of film personalities are becoming victims. It can be remembered that Renuka Sharma, the veteran director who has directed super hit films like Kaviratna Kalidasa starring Dr Rajkumar breathed his last yesterday. He too was a victim of Covid.

Recently, film personalities like Koti Ramu, designer Mustan, director Naveen Kumar, Chandrashekhar succumbed to the virus.
