Jos Buttler had an eventful outing on Day 4 of the ongoing Ashes Test between Joe Root-led England and hosts Australia at the Adelaide Oval. After taking a superman catch in Australia’s 1st innings, Buttler showcased his wicketkeeping heroics once again on Sunday by taking two stunning catches in the pink-ball Test match between the two arch-rivals.
Though Buttler played a crucial role in dismissing Steve Smith and Marcus Harris, the England wicketkeeper also dropped a couple of dollies in the same Test match. Buttler’s mixed bag performance behind the stumps in the ongoing Test match has already garnered the attention of netizens on social media.
Keeping the wickets for Root’s England on the penultimate day of the Ashes Test match, Buttler took a blinder to make sure England get rid of Marcus Harris early in the 2nd innings on Sunday. Buttler would’ve handed Smith a duck if the England wicketkeeper had taken his chances. Buttler failed to pluck a tough catch of Smith as the stand-in skipper was handed a lifeline by the Three Lions on Day 4 of the ongoing Day and Night Test match
However, Buttler was quick to make amends as the Englishman completed Smith’s dismissal in the 29th over bowled by pacer Ollie Robinson. Buttler has plucked three superb catches in the Adelaide Test so far which include two off Harris. However, England have also failed to make the most of their opportunities as Marnus Labuschagne (twice) and Smith were reprieved in the pink-ball Test match.
Talking more about the Ashes encounter between the two bitter rivals, Australia have set a record target of 468 runs for Root & Co. to win the 2nd Test match of the bilateral series. Smith-led Australian side had declared at 9-230 in the 2nd innings on Day 4 of the pink-ball Test match.
Root’s England will have to complete the highest successful fourth-innings Test run chase on the final day to level the Ashes series 1-1.
