Here is good news for K-drama fans. Superstars Ji Chang-Wook and Son Ye-Jin are in talks with Netflix for an upcoming K-drama titled ‘Scandal,’ which is a remake of the 2003 film ‘Untold Scandal.’ While Chang-Wook is known for hits such as ‘Healer’ and ‘Suspicious Partner’, Ye-Jin has been part of popular shows like ‘Crash Landing on You’ and ‘Something in the Rain’.

The show is even more special for Ye-Jin’s fans as it would mark her return to acting after getting married to her co-star Hyun Bin and welcoming a baby boy in November 2022. She was last seen in the show ‘Thirty-Nine’.

On the other hand, Chang-Wook has been working non-stop and is now gearing up for the release of his drama ‘Gangnam B-Side‘. The first episode of the show will air on November 6, 2024. Also starring Jo Woo-jin, Ha Yoon-kyung, and Kim Hyeong-seo, the show is based on a fictional story and will unfold a secret behind disappearances in the middle of Gangnam.

Agencies confirm the news

When the local media approached the actors’ respective agencies, they confirmed the news; however, they added that nothing is finalised yet. Son Ye Jin’s agency, MSteam Entertainment, commented, “Son Ye Jin received a casting offer for Netflix’s ‘Scandal’ and is reviewing the offer.” Ji Chang Wook’s agency, Spring Company, also shared a similar statement and said, “It is true that he received a casting offer. He is reviewing it at the moment.”

About the upcoming drama

The 2003 film was also adapted from the French novel ‘Dangerous Liaisons,’ written by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos. The historical drama is set in the backdrop of the Joseon Dynasty and tells the story of Lady Cho, who challenges the playboy Lord Jo-won to seduce and sleep with her husband’s concubine.

The upcoming series by Netflix will reportedly be directed by Jung Ji Woo, who is known for his association with projects such as Somebody, Tune in for Love, Heart Blackened, Eungyo, and Moss. As per news reports, the show will go on floor in March 2025.
