The wedding rumours of Farhan Akhtar and Shibani Dandekar has been in the news for quite some time now. While fans and admirers of both the celebs have often expressed their wish and excitement on social media about the marriage of the good-looking couple, their wish has come true as Farhan’s dad, veteran lyricist and screenwriter Javed Akhtar has confirmed the marriage of the duo.
Yes, Javed confirmed that Farhan and Shibani will tie the knot on February 21 through a registered marriage followed by an intimate ceremony with close friends and family in Javed’s family home in Khandala.
“Yes, the wedding is taking place. Rest, shaadi ki jo taiyyariyan hain that is being taken care of by the wedding planners,” Javed confirmed the news to Etimes.
The Sholay writer revealed that there will be limited people in the ceremony and added, “Taking the situation into consideration it is obvious that we cannot host anything on a large scale. So, we are only calling a few people. It will be a very simple affair. Khair abhi tak toh invitations bhi nahi bheje gaye hai.”
The veteran celebrity was all praises for would-be daughter-in-law Shibani Dandekar and said, “She is a very nice girl. All of us like her very much. The most important thing is that Farhan and she get along very well, which is great.” Well, we are sure that this news will make fans of Shibani and Farhan jump with joy.
Shibani and Farhan met in 2015 on the sets of the reality TV show I Can Do That, where Farhan was the host and Shibani was one of the contestants. While the rumours of their dating started soon after that, the couple made it public in 2018 when they attended Ranveer Singh-Deepika Padukone’s reception together.
On the professional front, Farhan Akhtar is making his directorial comeback after 10 years with Jee Le Zaraa. The road trip venture stars Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif and Alia Bhatt in lead roles.
Farhan announced the film last year on Instagram and wrote, “Thrilled to announce my next film as director and what better day than 20 years of Dil Chahta Hai to do it. #JeeLeZaraa with @priyankachopra @katrinakaif @aliaabhatt will commence filming in 2022 and I cannot wait to get this show on the road.”
The film is written by Zoya Akhtar, Farhan Akhtar and Reema Kagti. It reportedly going on floors around September 2022 and will be ready for release in the summer of 2023.
