Prime Minister Narendra Modi  expressed condolences to the people who lost their lives in the landslide near Ardhkuwari at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi.

“The loss of lives due to a landslide on the route to the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Temple is saddening. My thoughts are with the bereaved families. May the injured recover at the earliest. The administration is assisting all those affected. My prayers for everyone’s safety and well-being,” he said in a post on X.

Heavy rains and flash floods also wreaked havoc in the Kashmir Valley, causing severe damage to infrastructure and disturbed daily life. On Tuesday, a cloudburst was reported in Jammu’s Doda district, resulting in flash floods and casualties.

33 Killed

In a devastating incident, at least 33 people lost their lives after heavy rains triggered a landslide near the Vaishno Devi shrine in Jammu and Kashmir’s Katra, as per India Today reports.

Train Suspended

Landslides have disrupted travel in Jammu and Kashmir, leading to train cancellations. Officials said services were suspended on the down line between Pathankot Cantt and Kandrori due to soil erosion and flash floods in the Chakki River. Train movement was also halted between Jammu Tawi–Katra and Jammu Tawi–Bari Brahman. Additionally, four trains have been short-terminated and short-originated.

Jammu’s Fourth Tawi Bridge Collapses

Following continuous rainfall in Jammu, the water level of the Tawi River surged, causing damage to the Fourth Tawi Bridge at Bhagwati Nagar, where several vehicles were left stranded. The bridge later collapsed on camera, triggering fresh concerns over its safety record.
