J&K: Ceasefire Violations By Pakistan Army Continue For 5th Consecutive Day; Indian Army Responds Effectively

The Indian Army reported  that the Pakistan Army has continued its pattern of unprovoked small arms fire across the Line of Control (LoC) for the fifth consecutive day, in the areas close to the LoC in Kupwara, Baramulla, and Akhnoor. During the night of April 28-29, 2025, the Pakistan Army initiated small arms firing in areas opposite to the Kupwara and Baramulla districts, as well as in the Akhnoor sector.

In response to these provocations, the Indian Army acted with restraint and effectiveness, ensuring the safety and security of its positions along the LoC. This escalation in ceasefire violations comes in the wake of a recent terrorist attack on tourists in Baisaran. The Indian Army is closely monitoring activities across the LoC in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) to thwart any potential infiltration attempts by terrorists and neutralize threats posed by enemy forces.

Intensive Search Operations Ongoing In South Kashmir

Security forces are conducting an extensive search operation in Pahalgam and its surrounding areas to track down the terrorists responsible for the Baisaran attack. Joint teams comprising the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s SOG, Army, paramilitary forces, and various security agencies have been mobilized to conduct coordinated searches. The primary focus is to locate the terrorists who carried out the brutal attack on tourists in Baisaran on April 22. Authorities are ensuring that these operations are carried out with the utmost professionalism to minimize disruption to the local population.

Srinagar Police Intensifies Operations

In a series of coordinated searches, law enforcement officials have targeted the residences of individuals suspected of being associates of terrorist outfits. These operations, which have seen over 1,000 searches conducted across Kashmir Valley, are conducted with strict adherence to legal protocols and in the presence of Executive Magistrates and independent witnesses.

The primary objective of these searches is to seize arms, documents, digital devices, and other materials that could provide critical evidence and intelligence. The JK Police are determined to gather information that will help detect and deter any conspiratorial or terrorist activities that pose a risk to the safety and security of the nation.

A police spokesperson said that, “Our aim is to gather intelligence and evidence to prevent any potential threats to national security. We remain steadfast in our commitment to maintaining peace in Jammu and Kashmir.”
