A day after Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra accused the government of hacking the Instagram accounts of her children, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has taken cognisance of her allegation and ordered a probe.

MeitY’s Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) will investigate the matter.

On Tuesday, when asked about phone tapping of opposition leaders, Priyanka Gandhi had told the media in Lucknow, “Leave alone phone tapping, the government is targeting my children on social media. My children’s Instagram accounts have been hacked. Don’t they have any other work?”

Robert Vadra threatens legal action

After PGV’s allegation, her husband Robert Vadra threatened legal action in the matter saying “we have the proof of what we are saying and we will definitely take recourse to the law.”

In an exclusive conversation with IANS over the phone, Vadra said that the way this government is behaving; only legal remedy can stop it.

This allegation from the Congress leader comes after Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav accused Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath of getting his telephones tapped and listening to the recordings of his conversations every evening.

UP govt tapping phones of SP leaders: Akhilesh Yadav

Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, the SP chief claimed, “All our phone calls are being heard. All the calls in our party’s office are being listened to. The Chief Minister himself is listening to some of the recordings in the evening. If you contact us, then know that your call is being listened to by them.”

His remarks came after the Income Tax department conducted raids and searches at some SP leaders’ offices and residences.

The former UP CM also accused the BJP-led government in the state of misusing central agencies to persecute his party leaders ahead of upcoming Assembly polls.
