Israeli Military Intercepts Gaza-Bound Aid Flotilla, Boards Multiple Vessels

The Israeli military has once again intercepted vessels from the ongoing Gaza aid flotilla, including the Freedom Flotilla Coalition’s Thousand Madleens to Gaza and Conscience. According to the Global Sumud Flotilla, at around 120 nautical miles from Gaza, at least two boats were boarded, livestreams were disrupted, and authorities attempted to redirect the flotilla’s course.

“At roughly 120nms away from Gaza, Israel has attacked our flotilla. Currently, at least two boats have been boarded and most livestreams have been disconnected. The military is trying to divert their route. More to come,” the organisation said in a post on X.

This latest interception follows Israel’s deportation of approximately 170 activists, including Swedish campaigner Greta Thunberg, who were detained after attempting to reach Gaza aboard the Global Sumud Flotilla vessels.

During their detention, several activists claimed they faced mistreatment. Greta Thunberg, in particular, was reportedly “paraded like a trophy wrapped in an Israeli flag,” while fellow participants alleged she was pulled by her hair and forced to kiss the flag.

The Global Sumud Flotilla and Freedom Flotilla Coalition are humanitarian organizations dedicated to challenging Israel’s blockade of Gaza and delivering vital aid to the residents of the conflict-affected region.

Trump’s Gaza Peace Plan

Meanwhile, Hamas’s top negotiator, Khalil al-Hayya, stated that the group has no trust in Israel, highlighting the deep suspicion as President Donald Trump’s US-backed ceasefire talks reach a critical point in Egypt. Trump’s 20-point plan, presented in partnership with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, calls for an immediate end to hostilities in Gaza, the release of Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners, and the disarmament of armed factions in Gaza. The plan also proposes establishing a temporary administration led by Palestinian technocrats under international supervision and outlines major efforts to rebuild Gaza’s infrastructure, economy, and key services.

According to Israeli authorities, 48 hostages remain in Gaza out of the 251 abducted in October 2023, with 20 believed to be alive. The violence since then has caused more than 66,000 Palestinian deaths, following the October 2023 Hamas attack that killed approximately 1,200 Israelis.
