Delhi Police Special Cell on Thursday arrested four students, in connection with the blast that took place outside the Israel Embassy-Delhi in January this year. They have been brought to Delhi on transit remand – Delhi Police sources were quoted as saying by news agency ANI. According to the agency report, the four students are residents of Kargil in Jammu and Kashmir.

Delhi Police has arrested the students after obtaining a transit remand from a local court. The arrest was made under a separate FIR. They were questioned earlier, and their questioning will continue. Their phones were switched off at the same time on the day of the blast,” the police said, news agency ANI quoted.

The blast took place on January 29 outside the Israel Embassy in Delhi. The investigation is being conducted in a separate FIR filed by the Special Cell in the case.

In the second week of June, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) had released CCTV footage showing two people outside the Israeli Embassy. The agency had also announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh each on information leading to the identification and arrest of the suspected individuals.

A low-intensity blast took place near the Jindal House on APJ Abdul Kalam Road at 5.05 pm on January 29 this year. The police had categorised the blast as a low-intensity explosion caused by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED).

While there were no casualties during the incident, Israel had condemned the attack and said that it was working with the Indian authorities to probe the matter. The incident took place on the 29th anniversary of India-Israel relations
