Gujarat Titans bowler Ishant Sharma has been fined 25% of his match fees by BCCI as he breached the IPL Code of Conduct. In match against SRH he struggled and gave away 53 runs, but his woes didn’t end here, he has now been fined by Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) and awarded a demerit point.

“Ishant admitted to the Level 1 offence under Article 2.2 and accepted the Match Referee’s sanction. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding,” the IPL media release read.

“Abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during a Match.” states Article 2.2 of BCCI code of conduct

“Article 2.2 includes any action(s) outside the course of normal cricket actions, such as hitting or kicking the wickets and any action(s) which deliberately (i.e. intentionally), recklessly or negligently (in either case even if accidental) results in damage to the advertising boards, boundary fences, dressing room doors, mirrors, windows and other fixtures and fittings. For example, this offence may be committed, without limitation, when a Player swings his/her bat vigorously in frustration and causes damage to an advertising board,” reads the rule.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) faced a defeat against Gujarat Titans by 7 wickets at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. SRH had posted a target of 152/8 in 20 overs. Mohammed Siraj shines for Gujarat Titans and took 4 wickets. GT dominated the whole game and easily chased the target as well, courtesy Shubman Gill’s unbeaten 61, Washington Sundar’s 49 and Sherfane Rutherford’s 35.
