Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal sought to claim that the BJP was planning to dissolve the Gujarat Legislative Assembly next week and announce elections in the state.
“Is the BJP going to dissolve the Gujarat Legislative Assembly and announce the Gujarat elections next week?” the Delhi CM wrote on Twitter, saying that the BJP was scared of the AAP.
The AAP chief had lasted Saturday said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will hold early elections in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh. Both the states are set to hold elections later this year.
“BJP is scared of AAP in Himachal and Gujarat. Actually, they are scared of the public, not the AAP. BJP has decided to hold early elections in Himachal and Gujarat. It doesn’t matter whenever BJP conducts elections, power should come in the hands of common man,” he had said during a rally in Kangra.
Buoyed by its emphatic win in the February Punjab election, the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP has now set its eye on BJP-ruled Gujarat, the home turf of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Earlier this month, Kejriwal and his Punjab counterpart Bhagwant Mann visited the state and participated in a roadshow, called “Tiranga Gaurav Yatra,” in Ahmedabad city.
Addressing the roadshow, the Delhi CM appealed to the people of the BJP-ruled state to give “one chance” to the AAP to rule the state.
“After 25 years of rule, they are full of arrogance…give a chance to AAP, like the people of Delhi and Punjab gave. If you do not like it, change the government and bring them back,” he said.
“I am not here to criticise any party. I have not come here to defeat the BJP. I have not come to defeat the Congress. I have come to make Gujarat win. We have to make Gujarat and Gujaratis victorious. We have to end corruption in Gujarat,” he added.
