New Zealand Cricket maintains a direct surveillance program over those players who currently participate in both the IPL and PSL tournaments. India carried out ‘Operation Sindoor’ following the April 22, 2025 terrorist attack in Pahalgam that killed victims in Kashmir. ‘Operation Sindoor’ ended with targets on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) which sparked international security concerns in the region. NZC places the safety of its players who compete in both leagues among their foremost concerns

New Zealand Players To Leave IPL?

A Potential Major League Cricket Crisis With New Zealand Players as they might withdraw from IPL. The Cricket Board of New Zealand must evaluate the player safety in IPL India and PSL Pakistan after rising India-Pakistan tensions. The IPL 2025 will feature five men’s cricket players from the New Zealand national team including Devon Conway, Rachin Ravindra, Trent Boult, Bevon Jacobs, and Mitchell Santner. Kane Williamson along with Finn Allen and Michael Bracewell, Colin Munro, Daryl Mitchell, Tim Seifert, Mark Chapman, and Kyle Jamieson represent the PSL 2025 player roster.

What Did NZC Said

“NZ Cricket is aware of the relevant reports. We continue to assess the security environment for our players and coaching staff in all overseas environments to ensure they’re in receipt of the most updated advice. This includes our national men’s A team in Bangladesh, and New Zealanders involved in both the IPL and the PSL. These security assessments are current and ongoing.”

About The India-Pakistan Crisis

The Indian forces launched Operation Sindoor on Tuesday to force Pakistan’s responsibility for the Pahalgam terror attack. Defense Ministry officials confirmed army units attacked Pakistani terrorist bases extending to all parts of their country and also struck areas of Jammu Kashmir to halt terrorist operations against India. Through “Operation Sindoor” the ministry confirmed nine addresses had placed orders. None of Pakistan’s military bases sustained any harm during these attacks. During execution the Indian military enforced strict limits on both operational targets and action steps because of India’s original declaration.
