The retention period brought excitement and shock for fans worldwide. Many star players were retained at impressive prices, while several notable names were omitted. Stay tuned for complete updates on the retentions from all 10 teams in the IPL.

KKR Releases Shreyas Iyer

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have officially parted ways with their title-winning captain, Shreyas Iyer. After three seasons with KKR, Iyer proved to be a challenging negotiator, leading the franchise to decide on a fresh start.

Despite speculation about the future of Andre Russell, KKR has confirmed his retention alongside other key players: Sunil Narine (12 Cr), Rinku Singh (13 Cr), Varun Chakravarthy (12 Cr), and uncapped talents Ramandeep Singh (4 Cr) and Harshit Rana (4 Cr). KKR retains all six players, entering the 2024 auction without any Right to Match (RTM) cards.

Delhi Capitals Move On From Rishabh Pant

In a significant shift, Delhi Capitals have chosen to release Rishabh Pant after extensive negotiations, including a recent meeting aimed at securing a three-year deal. Pant has been with Delhi since 2016. The franchise has decided to retain crucial players such as Axar Patel (16.50 Cr), Kuldeep Yadav (13.25 Cr), rising star Tristan Stubbs (10 Cr), and uncapped keeper Abishek Porel (4 Cr).

LSG Parts Ways With KL Rahul

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have also made headlines by releasing KL Rahul after a lackluster season. The franchise retained Nicholas Pooran for a whopping INR 21 Crore, alongside leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi (11 Cr), pacer Mayank Yadav (11 Cr), and uncapped players Ayush Badoni (4 Cr) and Mohsin Khan (4 Cr).

CSK Retains MS Dhoni And Key Players

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have confirmed the retention of five players, including MS Dhoni, who is set to return for another season. Alongside Dhoni (4 Cr), the team has retained Ruturaj Gaikwad (18 Cr), Ravindra Jadeja (18 Cr), Shivam Dube (12 Cr), and Matheesha Pathirana (13 Cr). Thanks to Dhoni’s uncapped status, CSK will have the option to utilize their RTM card for a capped player during the auction.

Rajasthan Royals Opt Not To Retain Jos Buttler

In an unexpected move, Rajasthan Royals have decided against retaining Jos Buttler, who has been sidelined with a calf injury since June. The Royals will not have RTMs available as they’ve retained six players: Sanju Samson (18 Cr), Yashasvi Jaiswal (18 Cr), Riyan Parag (14 Cr), Dhruv Jurel (14 Cr), Shimron Hetmyer (11 Cr), and Sandeep Sharma (4 Cr).

Gujarat Titans And Mumbai Indians Retain Key Stars

Gujarat Titans have held onto five players, including star spinner Rashid Khan (18 Cr) and Shubman Gill (16.5 Cr). Additionally, they have retained promising batter Sai Sudharsan (8.5 Cr) and two uncapped players: Rahul Tewatia (4 Cr) and Shahrukh Khan (4 Cr).

Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians (MI) retained five players, including Jasprit Bumrah (18 Cr), Hardik Pandya (16.35 Cr), Suryakumar Yadav (16.35 Cr), Rohit Sharma (16.30 Cr), and Tilak Varma (8 Cr). MI heads into the auction with one RTM option for uncapped players.

RCB Moves Forward Without Faf du Plessis

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have decided not to retain Faf du Plessis, their captain for the past three seasons, and have also released Mohammed Siraj. However, RCB retained uncapped left-arm bowler Yash Dayal (5 Cr) and Rajat Patidar (11 Cr), along with superstar Virat Kohli, who will remain with the team for INR 21 crore.

Punjab Kings Focus On Young Talent

Punjab Kings are heading into the auction with a significant budget, having retained only two uncapped players: Shashank Singh (5.5 Cr) and Prabhsimran Singh (4 Cr). They will enter the auction with a remaining purse of INR 110.5 Crore.

Remaining Auction Budgets

Here’s a summary of each team’s remaining budget for the IPL 2024 mega auction:

Punjab Kings: 110.5 Crore

Royal Challengers Bengaluru: 83 Crore

Delhi Capitals: 73 Crore

Lucknow Super Giants: 69 Crore
