Tim David’s impressive style of batting at the middle-order resulted in widespread recognition as a top-choice finisher in global T20 cricket. David was originally part of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in 2021 before Mumbai Indians purchased him for INR 8.25 crore during the 2022 Mega Auction. Throughout RCB’s first IPL season, he displayed the qualities that gained him high recognition through his more than 200-strike rate and 46-run 18-ball knock against Sunrisers Hyderabad, which became his top highlight. The Australian national T20I roster has featured David as a regular participant over the past few years. The Bengaluru-based RCB team reinstated Tim David before IPL 2025 with the strategy to rely on his explosive batting during the late innings.

Tim David in IPL 2025

The batting finisher Tim David, delivers vital batting performances consistently throughout IPL 2025 for his team. The batter notched significant scores of 50 off 26 balls after facing PBKS and 37 off 20 balls after facing DC* before making 19 off just 5 balls* during the rematch against DC. The batter made strong contributions across the IPL 2025 season through his batting of 32 from 18 balls against GT and his lightning-fast 22 runs from just 8 balls delivered against CSK. David remains a dependable lower-order batter for this season by showing control during 1 off 1 ball matches against MI.

Surpassed Virat Kohli

Tim David also etched his name in the record books and surpassed former India and RCB captain, Virat Kohli, by becoming the player to score the most runs to bat at number seven or below. This feat was achieved during the clash against the Punjab Kings (PBKS). During the same contest, he became the second player to score a half century batting at number seven or below. He was only second to Mumbai Indians’ batting coach Kieron Pollard.
