Russian President Vladimir Putin heaped praises on United States President-Elect Donald Trump. Putin called Trump an ‘intelligent politician’ who will eventually find a solution to end the war. However, he has raised concerns about Trump’s safety seeing the previous assassination attempt on him.

Putin also threatened to unleash Oreshnik missiles on Kyiv. He revealed that these missiles are virtually unstoppable by any air defense system, during a press conference. Speaking to reporters in Kazakhstan, he referred to Pennsylvania attack on Donald Trump in July during the election campaign. He called these attacks ‘uncivilised’ and stated that he was shocked over the attempt.

What Did Putin Say?

He further warned Trump to remain cautious as despite his intelligence, he was at risk. The Russian President said, “As far as I can imagine, the newly elected president is an intelligent and already quite experienced person. I think he will find a solution.”

Putin said that absolutely uncivilised methods were used to battle against Trump, up to and including an assassination attempt – and more than once. “By the way, in my opinion, he is not safe now,” he added.

The Russian President also talked about Biden administration’s attempt to escalate tensions with Russia, seeing its recent decision to allow Ukraine to use US-made weapons. He sees this move either as a strategy to provide Trump with something to reverse when he assumes office or to complicate the relationship between the two countries. However, he emphasised that Moscow is open for dialogue.

Notably, Trump in one of his statements had mentioned to end the war within 24 hours after assuming the office.
