Apoorva Makhija, who is well known on social media as The Rebel Kid, has been involved in a controversy due to ‘offensive’ remarks on India’s Got Latent. For the unversed, the show is hosted by comedian Samay Raina and YouTubers Ranveer Allahbadia and Ashish Chanchlani were the guests on it along with Apoorva. Ranveer, Apoorva and Samay have been receiving massive backlash online due to their comments on the show.

Many complaints have also been filed against them amid the massive backlash. According to IANS, Apoorva has arrived at the police statement to record her statement in this case.

Earlier, YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani’s lawyer was spotted at the Khar police station. Ranveer and Samay have also been summoned by the police.

What Were Ranveer And Apoorva’s Statement:

The backlash was caused due to Ranveer’s question for one contestant as he said, “Watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life. Or would you join in once and stop it forever?” Later, Apoorva also asked, “have you ever seen v*?”

Ranveer later apologised for his inappropriate remarks and removed all the posts with Samay Raina. He said, “My comment wasn’t just inappropriate, it wasn’t even funny. Comedy is not my forte. I’m just here to say sorry. Many of you asked if this is how I wish to use my platform and obviously this is not how I wish to use it. I’m not going to give any context or justification or reasoning behind whatever happened.”

Mumbai’s Cyber Cell registered a case as well. According to reports, the case has been registered against 30 to 40 people and the process to send them notice has also begun. These people will also be called for questioning.

Earlier, All Indian Cine Workers’ Associations (AICWA) wrote a letter to the Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, demanding a ban on ‘India’s Got Latent’ and legal action against its creators. According to the letter the association mentioned that, “The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) strongly condemns the objectionable and offensive content being promoted on the YouTube show ‘India’s Got Latent. This show, hosted by Samay Raina and judged by Ranveer Allahbadia, Apoorva Makhija, Jasprit Singh, Ashish, and others, has crossed all ethical and moral boundaries by using extremely derogatory language, including remarks against parents and family values – which is absolutely unacceptable in any civilized society.”

The complaint has also been filed with the Mumbai Commissioner and Maharashtra Women’s Commission for allegedly using abusive language on the show and strict action has been demanded against Ranveer, Apoorva and Samay and the organisers of India’s Got Latent. in the letter.
