Soon after Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah confirmed that the twin white-ball series between India and hosts Sri Lanka have been deferred after the recent COVID-19 outbreak, the apex Indian cricket board has officially announced the revised schedule for the upcoming One Day Internationals (ODIs) and T20Is matches. BCCI and Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) have shared the revised itinerary of India’s tour of Sri Lanka on Saturday.

Taking to Twitter on Saturday, the BCCI stated that the decision to reschedule the itinerary of the tour was taken on the basis of the health advisory. The upcoming T20 and ODI series between the former two world champions was earlier postponed after a COVID-19 outbreak in the camp of the Sri Lankan cricket team. BCCI secretary Shah had earlier explained that the twin-white-ball series will get underway from July 18 in the aftermath of the COVID-19 outbreak.

The revised schedule for India vs Sri Lanka ODI series:

Date Match Venue
18th July 1st ODI Colombo
20th July 2nd ODI Colombo
23rd July 3rd ODI Colombo

The revised schedule for India vs Sri Lanka T20I series:

Date Match Venue
25th July 1st T20I Colombo
27th July 2nd T20I Colombo
29th July 3rd T20I Colombo

“Our medical team is in constant touch with the team of doctors at SLC and together following all safety protocols that will help the series to get underway. We are confident that both nations will put up a spirited show in the days to come and we are in for some exciting cricket,” the BCCI Secretary was quoted as saying.

Talking more about India’s tour of Sri Lanka, Shikhar Dhawan and Co. have completed the hard quarantine and the Rahul Dravid-coached side is training in the island nation for the ODI series opener. All matches of the ODI and T20I series will be played at the famous R. Premadasa Stadium. The BCCI had earlier named a second-string side for the twin white-ball series between the two nations.
