India Probes U.S. Funding Allegations; MEA Calls Foreign Interference ‘Deeply Troubling’

The US administration notified India about its discovery of certain activities linked to a funding stream, while former President Donald Trump stated that USAID spent 21 million Dollar to influence Indian elections. The Ministry of External Affairs considers this thing troubling and is now evaluating the possible consequences.

What MEA Said?

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that, “We have seen information that has been put out by the US administration regarding certain USA activities and funding. These are obviously very deeply troubling. This has led to concerns about foreign interference in India’s internal affairs.”

He further mentioned, “Relevant departments and agencies are looking into this matter. It would be premature to make a public comment at this stage, so relevant authorities are looking into, and hopefully we can come up with an update on that subsequently.”
