The India women’s national cricket team registered a 211-run win over West Indies in the first ODI played at the Vadodara International Cricket Stadium in Vadodara. The Indian women’s team showcased a brilliant bowling performance which wrapped up the visitors for a score of 103 runs while chasing down 315 runs. Indian pacer Renuka Singh Thakur picked up a five-wicket haul followed by a two-fer from Priya Mishra. Indian opener Smriti Mandhana played an innings of 91 runs from 102 balls which helped the Indian team put up a big first innings score.

Batting first, the Indian openers Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal put up a stand of 110 runs for the first wicket. Mandhana smashed 13 fours during her stay at the crease whereas Rawal played an innings of 40 runs from 69 balls. Harleen Deol followed the footsteps of Mandhana and Rawal to play a knock of 44 runs from 50 balls. Richa Ghosh and Jemimah Rodrigues played knocks of 26 and 31 runs respectively and played a major role in helping the Indian team put up a first innings score of 314/9. Zaida James picked up a five wicket haul for West Indies.
Chasing down the target, West Indies lost six wickets for just 34 runs. Big names such as Hayley Matthews, Qiana Joseph were dismissed for ducks whereas Rashada Williams and Deandra Dottin were dismissed for single digit scores. At the end, the West Indies couldn’t do much and the target proved to be big for the visitors. The Indian team lead the three-match series by 1-0.
