IND vs AUS: Ravichandran Ashwin’s Subtle Dig At Umpire Sharfuddoula Saikat, Post Goes Viral

Australia thumped Team India in the fourth Test of the five-match series by a margin of 184 runs at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The Australian team displayed a brilliant bowling performance and wrapped up the Indian team for a score of 155 runs in their fourth innings. The Aussies also won a Test match against India at the Melbourne Cricket Ground after a margin of 13 years. Chasing down 340 runs in the fourth innings, the Indian team was six down for 130 runs, however, India had a lot of expectations from batter Yashasvi Jaiswal. The latter was playing well and looked in complete control before a controversial moment entered the match.

During the 71st over of the match, Pat Cummins bowled a short-pitch delivery on which Yashasvi Jaiswal tried to hook the ball. However, the batter couldn’t make any contact with the ball and no such spike was also found on the snicko meter, though, due to some deflection which was seen by the third umpire Sharfuddoula Saikat, Jaiswal was given out. This left the batter stunned whereas the Australian team was celebrating.

Former Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin took a subtle dig at umpire Sharfuddoula Saikat by sharing a tweet on his official ‘X’ handle. Ashwin stated that ‘snickometer’ is trending now and it should be capitalised on this frenzy and the umpire shall be made the brand ambassador. The post read, “Snickometer is trending now. They should capitalise on this frenzy by signing up this man as their brand ambassador. Just for laughs.”

The five-match series is currently led by Australia by a margin of 2-1 and the Indian team will now have to win the fifth Test match in Sydney to give themselves a chance of making it to the finals of the World Test Championship.
