IND vs AUS 1st Test: Jasprit Bumrah Led Pace Attack Script Australia’s Batting Downfall After Being Wrapped Up For 150 Runs

Indian pace trio of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj and Harshit Rana put the hosts on the backfoot as the Australian team ended the Day 1 of the IND vs AUS 1st Test 2024-25. Australia ended the Day 1 at 67/7 in reply of Team India’s 150. The Indian team started off the day by winning the toss and batting first. Team India was sent on the backfoot by the Australian bowlers after Yashasvi Jaiswal and Devdutt Padikkal were dismissed for ducks. Virat Kohli was also not able to do much as the latter got out off Josh Hazlewood for just five runs. KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant tried to build a partnership after the early collapse. Rahul looked comfortable but fell off due to an unfortunate dismissal.

Team India Wrapped Up For 150 On Day 1

The Indian team was four down 47/4 while Dhruv Jurel came into bat to support Rishabh Pant. However, Jurel couldn’t do much and got dismissed for 11 runs. The Indian team lost its fifth wicket, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Rishabh Pant put up a stand of 48 runs off 85 balls. Both the batters played some brave shots and tried to push the Aussies on the backfoot. However, at the end, Pant’s brave stay at the crease was ended up by Pat Cummins who was dismissed for 37 runs off 78 balls. Pant’s wicket was followed by wickets of Jasprit Bumrah and Harshit Rana. In the end, Nitish Reddy was the lone warrior and hit six fours and one six during his stay at the crease. Team India were wrapped up for 150 runs wherein Josh Hazlewood picked up four wickets whereas Mitchell Starc, Mitchell Marsh and Pat Cummins ended up with two wickets.

Bowlers Help India Fight Back On Day 1

While, the Aussies would have thought that they may have an upper hand before the start of the innings. Meanwhile, Indian captain and pacer Jasprit Bumrah had different plans as he removed top three Australian batters in the form of Usman Khawaja, Nathan McSweeney and Steve Smith. Travis Head was cleaned up by Harshit Rana whereas Mohammed Siraj got rid of Mitchell Marsh, Pat Cummins and Marnus Labuschagne. Australia ended the Day 1 at 67/7 and the Indian team was on top at the end of the day.
