Amid an uneasy trip to the island nation, the return of KL Rahul after an injury seems to be a sign of relief for the Indian dugout as he returns the practice nets ahead of the first Border-Gavaskar Trophy test and batted up for an hour straight in Perth during the practice session. According to the sources Rahul, during the session faced Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Siraj and other bowlers in the nets and center wickets at WACA Perth. Rahul had an injury earlier between the Intra-Squad match.

Domestic Career

Fans have high hopes from the 32 year-old. The tall, elegant right-hand Wicket-Keeper batter who can keep wicket in a crisis, KL Rahul is among the most highly rated opening batters in India’s next generation. Having taken a while to establish himself as a first-class cricketer, he enjoyed a breakthrough 2013-14 season, laying the foundation for Karnataka’s Ranji Trophy victory with 1033 runs, which included three centuries, three nineties, and a Man-of-the-Match performance in the final. Rahul was a part of India’s squad in the 2010 Under-19 World Cup and made his first-class debut later that year.

Rahul an asset or liability?

He has a record of 91 innings with the highest score of 199 in test cricket. Rahul has an average of 33.88 with 15 half-centuries and 8 centuries. On Oct 2024, he played his recent Test match against New Zealand at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru, India, scoring 0 runs off 6 balls. Lokesh Rahul has hit 359 fours and 26 sixes in his Test career.
