IDF Eliminates Hamas Gaza Chief Mohammad Sinwar, Israeli PM Netanyahu Announces

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu  announced the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) eliminated Hamas Gaza chief Mohammad Sinwar. 

Mohammad Sinwar was elevated to the top ranks of the Palestinian Armed Forces after his brother, Yahya Sinwar, was killed by the Israeli forces last year during a fight. 

According to AFP, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, “ We eliminated Mohammad Sinwar.”

Earlier, Sinwar was targeted by the Israeli forces in Souhern Gaza.

The IDF posted on X, ” The IDF and Shin Bet destroyed an underground terrorist infrastructure of the Hamas terrorist organization under the European Hospital in Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip. Since the beginning of the war, the IDF and Shin Bet have been working to destroy and neutralize the underground infrastructure of the Hamas terrorist organization in the Gaza Strip. Earlier today, the IDF and Shin Bet targeted terrorists in the Hamas terror organization who were in a command and control complex established in an underground infrastructure beneath the European Hospital in Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip.”

Who was Mohammad Sinwar?

Mohammad Sinwar took over the charge of military wing of Hamas. Mohammed Ibrahim Hassan Sinwar was born in the Khan Yunis refugee camp. Mohammad Sinwwar was a brother of Yahya Sinwar who was killed in October 2024 during ongoing was in Gaza.

The Israeli forces nicknamed Mohammad Sinwar as “The Shadow” because of his involvement in secretive activities. He was involved in the kidnapping f Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit. He had developed his contacts during imprisonment with Hams leaders and joined the military wing in 1991.

Mohammad Sinwar was considered as the mastermind behind the attack on Israel in October 2023.
