Hyundai has revealed the first look of their smallest SUV till date, the Hyundai Casper. It’s a mini-SUV that is set to drive in and compete in Indian markets with the likes of Kia Seltos, Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Mahindra XUV300, Nissan Magnite, Skoda Kushaq, Renault Kiger and the car that started this segment in India, the Ford EcoSport.

Based on the K1 compact car concept earlier launched as the Santro, the Hyundai Casper is similar to the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios dressed as a bigger SUV.

The Hyundai Casper is 3,595 mm in length, 1,595 mm in width and 1,575 mm in height. What this means is that the Casper, despite being classified as an SUV, will be shorter and isn’t as wide as the Santro or the Grand i10 Nios. But being an SUV, it needs good ground clearance and that makes it taller than the above-mentioned hatchbacks from the South Korean multinational automotive giant.

The Casper looks a bit boxy, but it also has retro charm with design elements shared with the Hyundai Alcazar and the Hyundai Venue. The Hyundai Casper will be the entry-level SUV for the car manufacturer with the next level being the Creta, Venue, and the premium SUV, Alcazar.

At the rear-end, the top half of the hatch gets blacked out treatment along with the Tucson-styled LED lights as well as circular taillights, adding to the retro appeal. At this point, Hyundai has not shown images or even rendered files of the interiors but one of the shared images by the company shows that the SUV will come with a freestanding touchscreen that works for the entertainment system as well as the internet-based connected car features. Among one of the best things going for the Hyundai Casper is that it will be the smallest passenger vehicle to feature a standard-size sunroof.
