PM Narendra Modi addressed the Lok Sabha and stressed on India’s “economic strides”, of which even the world took note of.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, in her Budget 2022-23 speech, had laid 4 priorities of the Centre, one of them being PM Gati Shakti. PM Modi in the Lok Sabha also underlined how the plan could be a booster for the economy.
“PM Gati Shakti presents a holistic approach to solve our infrastructure challenges. Our emphasis is on proper connectivity. PM Gati Shakti will reduce logistics costs and this will benefit local industries,” PM Modi said in the house.
Further, stressing on the government’s ‘AtmaNirbhar Bharat’ initiative, PM added that since last 7 years, we are making greater strides in every sector. “To give momentum to industry better infrastructure is needed. PM Gati Shakti is going to do that and will prove beneficial in days to come,” he stated.
The PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan for Multi-Modal Connectivity was launched in October 2021 to focus on coordinated planning and execution of infrastructure projects. Further, it also aims to cut down the logistics costs.
Under the PM Gati Shakti master plan, Sitharaman, during her Budget speech, added that the government will expand the National Highway network by 25,000 kms in 2022-23. The PM Gati Shakti masterplan for road transport will take a final shape in 2022-23.
Today, India is among fastest growing economies in world. Our total exports is among highest in times of pandemic. India is creating identity in defence exports. There has been unprecedented export in mobile and agriculture. Country is among top 5 countries in renewable energy, PM Modi pointed out in his speech.
The PM also spoke on inflation in India with a jibe at the Opposition party Congress. He said, “I want to remind Congress that in their 2nd term the inflation was in double digits. Controlling inflation is our priority in our policy. Since 2014-2020, inflation was below 5%. Despite Corona pandemic 5.2 inflation and food inflation was below 3%.”
