After RR lost their sixth game while chasing in the IPL 2025, Rahul Dravid has replied to those who have criticised Dhruv Jurel. In the seventh attempt to chase runs in this ongoing IPL season RR who have won only one match till now which was against GT on April 28. In their clash against PBKS on Sunday they saw another defeat for Sanju Samson’s side, as they fell well behind while trying to score 220 runs. Another defeat made the middle order’s failings clear again, because it has been unable to finish games when Rajasthan was close to winning all season.

Rahul Dravid’s Statement While Defending Dhruv Jurel

“In every single match that he has come out in, he’s been chasing 13-14 runs per over — that is not easy,” said Dravid at the post-match press conference. “He played really well, even though we lost a bunch of wickets in the middle overs. He brought us close to the target. It’s not like he’s walked in needing 7 an over and failed. It’s always 12-13, sometimes even more. I think Jurel has done well for us at No. 5. It’s a very difficult position to bat in.”

“We’ve seen the talent — today again, the batting from Jaiswal, Vaibhav, Jurel, even Sanju and Riyan. We have a strong group of young Indian batsmen. They’ll only be better in a year,” Dravid said.

Dhruv Jurel’s Performance In IPL 2025

In this year’s IPL season, Dhruv Jurel has been a reliable player for his team, scoring consistently with the bat. So far, Jurel has made 302 runs in 13 games which gives him an average of 33.56. The best result for him so far this season is a 70, indicating that he can hold the innings when required. In spite of never scoring a century, Jurel has proved his worth with two notable half-centuries in the middle order. Thanks to his good strike rate of 150.25, he can quickly increase the score when the team needs it the most.
