Henry Cavill surprised his fans by announcing he won’t be returning as Superman in the upcoming DC films. However, the news immediately sparked speculation that the actor could be the next James Bond!
Henry Cavill as James Bond?
The speculation is based on Cavill’s confirmation earlier this year that he auditioned for the role in 2005 and came in second to Daniel Craig, who went on to star in four installments.
According to reports, Avengers: Age of Ultron star Aaron Taylor-Johnson had a strong chance of landing the role of the legendary 007. However, following Cavill’s announcement, the former Marvel actor is now facing tough competition from the Superman star.
While Aaron is still in the lead, Henry is a close second-favourite. “Another twist in the search for our next James Bond has seen Henry Cavill’s odds slashed after the actor revealed he will not be reprising his Superman post in the early hours of Thursday morning. His price of 6/1 to land the role has been halved to 3/1 overnight, with punters clearly working out that he will now have some free time on his schedule,” Lee Phelps, a spokesperson for the bookmakers, said.

Debuting on the big screen in 2001’s Laguna, Henry Cavill has earned a name for himself over the years. Aside from starring as the iconic DC hero Superman, Henry Cavill also became a fan favourite for his role as in Netflix’s The Witcher. However, he left the show after the third season and was replaced by The Hunger Games fame actor Liam Hemsworth. He is also known for his performances in Mission Impossible: Fallout, Stardust, Immortals, Enola Holmes and The Cold Light of Day.
