He just needs too..: Wasim Jaffer shares advice for Virat Kohli amid bad run of form with bat

The last few months have clearly been the hardest of Virat Kohli’s long career in international cricket. Be it the controversy surrounding his captaincy resignation in T20s and Tests, removal as the ODI captain, or his century drought going over two years; Kohli has certainly not had it easy.

His run bad of form with the bat has hit its peak against the West Indies as he managed to score just 26 runs in three games in the 50-over series. This was the ex-Indian skipper’s worst showing with the bat in an ODI series for nine years. Moreover, in the first T20I at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens, he was dismissed for just 17 runs.

With many fans getting concerned over his poor showings with the bat, former Indian opener Wasim Jaffer has urged Kohli to be patient. Jaffer stated that it’s a phase every player goes through and once he breaks the barrier, runs will flow again for him.

” am sure he is working as hard behind the scenes as he has been doing all these years, and with the same intensity. But, every cricketer goes through this phase where he is unable to score despite trying his best,” Jaffer said on Espncricinfo.

He added, “Virat Kohli needs to show a little bit of patience. Once he breaks that barrier, I am sure we will see consistent scores from him again.”

India and West Indies are set to face each other in the second T20I at Eden Gardens later today. India could wrap up another series victory with a win. So far, West Indies have not won a single game on the tour across the two formats.

Meanwhile, Kohli is nearing Martin Guptill’s record of most runs in T20I cricket. A knock of 55 or more will see him eclipse Guptill in the list. However, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma is just seven runs behind Kohli.
