As Prime Minister Narendra Modi completes 20 years in public service, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday heaped praises on him, attributing BJP’s success to his “hard work, planning, a determination for implementation”.
In an interview with public broadcaster Sansad TV, Shah said: Modi ji’s public life can be divided into three parts. 1) As an organisational after joining BJP. 2) As the chief minister of Gujarat 3) As Prime Minister in national politics.”
“There were three big stages in the life of Modi ji, all three were challenging and he successfully overcome all the three challenges with great patience and strong political will and I believe that this is the great quality of his leadership,” he added.
Responding to a question about PM Modi’s image as a “dictator”, Shah said that PM Modi is one of the most democratic leaders he knows.
“I have had the opportunity to work with Modi ji both in the Opposition as well as in the government. I have never seen a listener like Modi ji. In any meeting, Modi ji speaks as little as required, listens patiently to everyone patiently and then takes appropriate decisions. He gives importance to the suggestion of the less important person on the basis of quality and takes decisions patiently. So there’s no truth to the charges that he is dictatorial,” Shah said.
He further said that the Modi government ensures that every issue is resolved swiftly and is taken forward with sensitivity.
“Problems come, they will come in the future too. But after Modi became the Prime Minister, the problem is addressed immediately, efforts are made to find its solution and it is taken forward with sensitivity,” he added.
The Home Minister recalled the Balakot airstrike and surgical strike, saying the youth of India are being encouraged by the steps taken by the government.
“The security system of the country has also been beefed up due to a strong political will. No one could ever imagine that India would do an airstrike or surgical strike that was a reserve thing for America. Today, due to this, the youth of India has been encouraged and they started believing that we can also do it,” he said.
The Home Minister also said that India will soon become a USD five trillion economy.
“It could never have happened that a prime minister would say that India has the courage to become a USD five trillion economy. Today we have become the sixth-largest economy in word from number 11, will be fifth soon… I believe that India will soon become a USD five trillion economy,” he said.
