Amid worsening air quality in Delhi and surrounding areas, the Gurugram Deputy Commissioner  issued an advisory asking all private offices to implement work-from-home arrangements. The Gurugram district administration also revised the working hours for all government offices in the region.

GRAP-IV restrictions trigger advisory

This advisory comes following the implementation of Phase IV of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) by the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) in the Delhi-NCR region. Air quality has remained poor in the national capital and nearby areas over the past few days. On Monday morning, Gurugram recorded an AQI of 325, while Delhi’s AQI stood at 366, both falling under the “very poor” category, according to the Sameer app by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

Gurugram Issues Work-from-Home Advisory

The Gurugram Deputy Commissioner, Ajay Kumar, has urged all private offices in the region to adopt a work-from-home model until further notice, or until air quality improves.

Revised Timings for Government and Municipal Offices

As part of the advisory, the Gurugram district administration has revised working hours for public offices under the state government and municipal bodies:

  • State government offices in Gurugram: 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM
  • Municipal Corporation of Gurugram and Municipal Corporation of Manesar: 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM
  • Municipal councils in Sohna, Pataudi Mandi, and Farrukhnagar: 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM

Purpose of the New Timings

The revised office hours aim to spread out travel during peak hours and reduce traffic congestion in the mornings and evenings. The district administration stated that these measures will remain in place as long as GRAP-IV restrictions continue in the area.

“These steps are being taken in the interest of public health and environmental protection,” said the officials mentioning that more
