Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) and Coast Guard have once again seized a large consignment of drugs coming through sea route. 300 kg of drugs have been recovered near the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) in the Arabian Sea, whose market value is said to be Rs 1800 crore. This success has been achieved in a joint operation of Gujarat ATS and Indian Coast Guard.

The forces have achieved a major success against illegal drug smuggling from the sea border of Gujarat. Both have recovered 300 kg of drugs under a joint operation, whose value is said to be Rs 1800 crore. Drug smugglers were trying to smuggle it into India through the Arabian sea. However, as soon as they encountered Gujarat ATS and Coast Guard, they threw the drugs into the sea and fled from the spot. This entire incident took place on the night of April 12-13.

According to Gujarat ATS, this drug could be Methamphetamine. Gujarat ATS is investigating it. In fact, Gujarat ATS had received intelligence that Pakistani drug smuggler Fida would try to smuggle 400 kg drugs into Gujarat through the International Maritime Boundary Line on April 10. ATS immediately informed the Indian Coast Guard about this. Both of them started patrolling near IMBL under a joint operation. During patrolling, they found a suspicious boat

Seeing the Coast guard ship, the drug smugglers threw the entire consignment of drugs into the sea and fled from there. The Coast Guard landed a small boat in the sea and recovered 311 packets of one kg drugs thrown there. At the same time, they started chasing drug smugglers from the main ship. However, in a short time the drug smugglers crossed the IMBL, where they couldn’t be arrested. In such a situation, the Coast Guard returned.

Operation Sagar Manthan

Notably, Operation Sagar Manthan was started in 2024 to stop drug smuggling in the country. Under this operation, NCB officers, Indian Navy, Coast Guard and Gujarat ATS keep an eye on drug smuggling. The 300 kg of drugs seized in the Arabian Sea is the 13th major success of this operation. So far, 3,400 kg of drugs have been recovered under Operation Sagar Manthan. Apart from this, Police have also arrested 11 Iranian and 14 Pakistani citizens involved in drug smuggling. Also, before this, the name of this Pakistani drug smuggler Fida had also come up in the smuggling of 173 kg drugs.
