‘Govt is shielding minister and his son’: Priyanka Gandhi targets PM Modi, UP CM over Lakhimpur Kheri violence

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in a blistering attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Yogi Adityanath accused them of shielding MoS Home Ajay Mishra and his son Ashish Mishra.

Addressing the public at the ‘Kisan Nyay’ rally in Varanasi, Priyanka said that the son of MoS Home mowed down 6 farmers with his vehicle last week.

“The son of MoS Home mowed down 6 farmers with his vehicle. Families of all the victims said they want justice but all of you have seen that the government is shielding the minister and his son,” she said.

She also took a dig at the Union government over the sale of Air India.

“Modi Ji bought two aircraft for himself for Rs 16,000 crores last year. He sold the entire Air India of this country for just Rs 18,000 crores to these billionaire friends,” she added.

She also attacked PM Modi for calling the protesting farmers ‘Andolanjivi’ and terrorists.

“Yogi Adityanath called them hooligans and tried to threaten them. The same minister Ajay Kumar Mishra said that he would make the protesting farmers fall in line within 2 minutes,” she added.

Accusing the CM of shielding the minister from the public forum, the Congress leader said that the PM came to Lucknow to see the performance of ‘Uttam Pradesh’ and ‘Azaadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ but couldn’t go to Lakhimpur Kheri to share the grief of the victim families.

The Congress leader is accompanied by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister and party observer for upcoming UP polls Bhupesh Baghel, and party MP Deepender Singh Hooda.

Before addressing the Kisan Nyay rally at the parliamentary constituency of PM Modi, Priyanka Gandhi offered prayers at Kashi Vishwanath Temple and Maa Durga Temple.

She is expected to stay in Uttar Pradesh for five days every month, presumably to zero in on her campaigning agenda ahead of the upcoming assembly polls scheduled early next year.
