Govt Extends AFSPA In Multiple Districts Of Arunachal Pradesh And Nagaland

The Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act has been extended for six months in three districts of Arunachal Pradesh and some areas of Namsai district. AFSPA has also been extended for six months in eight districts of Nagaland and parts of five other districts.

The notice issued on Wednesday stated that “the districts and police station areas have been labeled as ‘Disturbed areas’ under section 3 of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958 for a term of Six months. It will effect from October 1, 2024”.

AFSPA Has Been Extended In These Districts Of Nagaland

AFSPA has been extended to all the districts in Nagaland, including Dimapur, Niuland, Chumoukedima, Mon, Kiphire, Noklak, Phek, and Peren.

Arunachal Pradesh Declares Three Districts And Surrounding Areas As ‘Disturbed’ Under AFSPA

A further review of the law and order situation in Arunachal Pradesh has taken place. As a result, the Tirap, Changlang, and Longding districts, along with the areas under the Namsai, Mahadevpur, and Chowkham police stations in Namsai district, which borders Assam, have been declared ‘disturbed areas’. This declaration will last for six months starting from October 1, 2024, unless it is withdrawn earlier.
