Good News! Bengaluru To Get Longest Flyover With Double-Deck Metro Road In THIS Area

Soon, a 32.15 kilometres long flyover will be in Bengaluru from JP Nagar to Hebbal, which is called an Outer Ring Road (ORR). This road-cum-metro corridor will be the same as the double-decker project on the Ragigudda-Silk Board stretch in south Bengaluru.

According to reports, the elevated road will cost around 9800 crore for the 8-kilometre stretch on the Magadi road. Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar also reviewed the project.

Double-decker corridors are expected to be part of phase three of the Namma Metro, covering over 40 km. The feasibility study is nearly complete, but design modifications have delayed the selection of contractors for civil works. The project has been approved by the central government since last August.

Deputy CM Shivakumar mentioned that the project is expected to last 30 to 40 years, with the BBMP and Namma Metro sharing costs.

To accommodate the double-decker system, significant changes will be made along the 32.15 km stretch between JP Nagar 4th Phase and Kempapura. Instead of an interchange station at Peenya, a new Metro station will be created at Goraguntepalya. This change will shorten the line by 300 meters and reduce construction costs, as the new station will connect with both Peenya and Goraguntepalya stations via travelators.

While this adjustment may inconvenience some Metro passengers, it will significantly help in decongesting traffic, especially for vehicles traveling between Dr. Rajkumar Memorial and BEL Circle. The double-decker project aims to create a signal-free road and eliminate traffic by providing a direct route through properties owned by the Defence Ministry and the Central Manufacturing Technology Institute.
