Georgia Voll, Ellyse Perry’s Centuries Help Australia To Clinch 122-run Win Over India In 2nd ODI

Georgia Voll and Ellyse Perry’s brilliant centuries powered Australia to a commanding total of 371, which proved too much for India as they managed only 249 in response. This result handed Australia a decisive 2-0 lead in the three-match series, according to the ICC.

Australia Strengthens ICC Women’s Championship Lead

With this victory, Australia now leads the ICC Women’s Championship standings with 32 points, comfortably ahead of second-placed England (28 points), while India sits third with 25 points.

Tahlia McGrath’s Decision to Bat First Pays Off

With Alyssa Healy absent, Tahlia McGrath captained Australia and made the winning call at the toss by opting to bat first. The decision proved pivotal as Australia amassed a massive total of 371 runs.

Opening Partnership Sets the Stage

Australia’s opening pair, Phoebe Litchfield and Georgia Voll, set the tone with a strong 130-run partnership. Litchfield was dismissed for 60 in the 20th over, caught by Saima Thakur, but the foundation had already been laid.

Voll and Perry Dominate with Century Partnerships

Georgia Voll’s Maiden International Century: Voll celebrated her first-ever international century in just her second ODI, sharing a 92-run stand with Ellyse Perry for the second wicket. Ellyse Perry’s Third WODI Century: Perry brought up her third career century, joining Voll in piling on the runs.

Beth Mooney’s Contribution: Mooney added 98 runs with Perry, scoring a well-earned fifty to support the team. Thakur managed two key wickets during this period but could not stop Australia’s relentless run-scoring. With captain Tahlia McGrath adding 20 runs, Australia posted an imposing 371 runs, leaving India with a mountain to climb.

India’s Chase: Early Struggles Set the Tone

India’s chase began poorly when Smriti Mandhana was clean-bowled by Kim Garth in the fourth over. Things got worse as Harleen Deol fell shortly after the powerplay, leaving India in a vulnerable position.

Despite the team’s struggles, Minnu Mani contributed 46 runs while batting with the tailenders. Her efforts pushed India’s total past 200, but they still fell 123 runs short of Australia’s mammoth total.
