Gandhi’s India is turning into Godse’s India, says Mehbooba Mufti

People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader Mehbooba Mufti alleged that Gandhi’s India is turning into Godse’s India. Referring to the recent incidents when action was taken against those who cheered for Pakistan during the India-Pakistan cricket match, Mufti said that during former prime minister Atal Behari Vajpayee’s time, citizens of the two countries were cheering for each other.

“I remember a cricket match between India and Pakistan during Vajpayee ji’s era, where citizens of Pakistan were cheering for India and citizens of India were cheering for Pakistan. And former Pak President Pervez Musharraf also praised the then Indian captain MS Dhoni,” Mufti said at a press conference.

“But some days ago in Agra, when some youngsters cheered for the Pakistan cricket team during a match with India, not a single lawyer is ready to take their case….so it feels like Gandhi’s India is turning into Godse’s India,” she further said.

Farooq Abdullah calls for talks between India and Pakistan

Last month, National Conference leader and former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Farooq Abdullah called for peace between India and Pakistan. Speaking at an event in New Delhi, Abdullah had said that the leadership that abrogated Article 370, also had the capacity to bring back Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) from the neighbouring country.

“I have been repeatedly saying that India and Pakistan have to talk (for peace in Jammu and Kashmir). Threats are being held that we will take this thing or that which cannot solve the issue. When they can talk to China which entered our territory and set up villages, why cannot they talk to them (Pakistan) who are across the border,” he had said, adding, that the people on the other side of the Line of Control ‘are our own’.
