The Indian Premier League (IPL) has witnessed the most expensive buys that have failed to make an impact and live upto the high-expectations. The five players who have not made an impact are Rishabh Pant, Glenn Maxwell, Liam Livingstone, Venkatesh Iyer and Ravichandran Ashwin.

Rishabh Pant (INR 27 Crore, Lucknow Super Giants)

Rishabh Pant, the wicket-keeper batter for Lucknow Super Giants was the most expensive buy in IPL history but still he failed to make an impact in both batting and captaincy. He has struggled to find form, often getting out despite getting a good start. His inconsistency with bat has become a matter of concern as he has just scored 128 runs in 11 matches at a strike rate of 99.22 and a average of 12.80.

Glenn Maxwell (INR 10.75 Crore, Punjab Kings)

The Australian all-rounder has been in poor form since the last season and this year also he has just scored 48 runs in 7 matches at a strike rate of 97.96 and an average of 8.00. His performance led to discussions about his place in the team, but now he has been ruled out due finger fracture.

Liam Livingstone (INR 8.75 Crore, Royal Challengers Bengaluru)

The English power-hitter Liam Livingstone has been disappointing in IPL 2025, he has played 7 matches in which he has just scored 87 runs at a strike rate of 127.94 and an average of 17.40. Despite getting a strong start he has failed to keep the momentum and got out cheaply.

Ravichandran Ashwin (INR 9.75 Crores, Chennai Super Kings)

The veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has been underwhelming this season and his performance in IPL lacked impact. He failed to provide crucial breakthroughs and CSK is now already out of the playoffs race. He has taken 5 wickets in 7 matches with an economy of 9.29.

Venkatesh Iyer (INR 23.75 Crores, Kolkata Knight Riders)

The batter from KKR has had a very bleak season and struggled to make runs. Despite being picked for an expensive amount, he has failed to live upto expectations placed on him by the management. In 11 matches he has scored 142 runs with a strike rate of 139.22 and an average of 20.29.
