FC Barcelona star player Unai Hernandez has allegedly agreed to depart the team and play Al-Ittihad in the Saudi Pro League. From 11 years in Girona, Hernandez progressed up the ranks and debuted for Barca B in 2022. Having rather 20 games a season, he has been a standout performer playing for Barca Atletic with nine goals and three assists. Particularly given the competition in midfield, breaking into Hansi Flick’s senior team has been difficult despite his good form.

Unai Hernandez’s Departure To Al-Ittihad: The End Of A Barcelona Dream?

While Unai Hernandez’s transfer to Al-Ittihad seems to indicate otherwise, Marc Casado’s smooth transition to the first team offers an example that young athletes can breakthrough at Barca. Though he played against top sides like Man City and Real Madrid during last summer’s preseason tour of the United States and impressed Hansi Flick, Hernandez is presently compelling a transfer to the Saudi Pro League. Former Barca Sporting Director Ramon Planes trains Al-Ittihad, who already have stars like Karim Benzema, and they currently sit just behind Neymar’s Al-Hilal in the division standings.

Unai Hernandez’s Move to Al-Ittihad: A Disruption At Barcelona

Ramon Planes has allegedly recently contacted Unai Hernandez’s agents to negotiate around $6.3 million (€6 million) transfer to Al-Ittihad. When Hernandez asked not to be included in the next game against Ourense because of ongoing transfer negotiations, things got worse. Albert Sanchez, head coach of Barca B, openly slammed Hernandez, saying his lack of team focus was clear. Barcelona could want to sell Hernandez now so as not to run the possibility of losing him for nothing in several months if his contract expires in June.
