French Open 2025: Novak Djokovic Achieves A Historic Feat And Qualifies For Round 4

Serbian tennis great Novak Djokovic moved into the fourth round of the French Open following a comprehensive straight-sets win over Austrian qualifier Filip Misolic, 6-3, 6-4, 6-2, on Saturday evening.

This victory was Djokovic’s 99th Roland Garros career victory and his third title in Paris. Remarkably, he also has 99 Australian Open victories to his name, a record 10 Australian singles titles to his credit, the ATP Tour reports. Djokovic has another 97 titles at Wimbledon and 90 at the US Open.

Djokovic dominated the two-hour and nine-minute match on Court Philippe-Chatrier with ferocious intensity, claiming crucial points to advance to the round of 16 for the 16th successive year.

At 38, Djokovic is pursuing a record-extending 25th Grand Slam crown. He has yet to lose a set in the French Open this year. His next bet will be Britain’s Cameron Norrie, who advanced to the fourth round for the first time after beating fellow Brit Jacob Fearnley.

Djokovic enjoys an immaculate head-to-head with Norrie, with five consecutive wins in their prior encounters, including their last encounter in the Geneva Open a week ago.

Before arriving in Paris, Djokovic’s form had dipped slightly, following early losses in Monte Carlo and Madrid. But he recovered by winning the ATP 250 title in Geneva, defeating Hubert Hurkacz in the final to win his 100th tour-level title, quashing doubts leading into the Grand Slam.

Thus far at Roland Garros, the sixth-ranked player in the world has eased past Mackenzie McDonald and Corentin Moutet in the first and second rounds.
