Hours after Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind (JUH) said it would provide legal assistance to Al Qaeda terrorists arrested by the Uttar Pradesh ATS, BJP reacted sharply to this statement saying it has been done for political reasons.

Talking to news agency ANI, BJP spokesperson Nalin Kohli said that every person is entitled to due process of law and to get legal help but asked how can an organisation fight legal battle on behalf of the terror accused.

“Every person is entitled to due process of law and to get legal help. However, the question arises if an organisation, possibly for political reasons, decides to fight legal battle terror accused. Will such organisations help victims of terror,” said Kohli.

Family members of terrorists sought legal help from JUH

The JUH has announced that it would provide legal help to the persons arrested by the ATS in Lucknow for their alleged terror activities saying the arrested persons’ family members have sought legal help following which an advocate has been appointed to fight the case.

Talking to IANS, JUH President Arshad Madani alleged that the security agencies have been targeting Muslim youth without any proof and hundreds of them have been let off by the courts.

JUH will fight their cases till their logical end, he announced and demanded that the case must be tried in a fast-track court.
