Smriti Mandhana has become the sensation of women’s cricket with her incredible talent, she recently hit 135 runs off just 80 balls with a staggering strike rate of 168.75 against Ireland in the third ODI. She has also reached a personal milestone of 10 ODI centuries and becomes the first Indian women to achieve the feat. While Mandhana remains to gain popularity for her stellar performances, here are some unknown facts about her that will leave you completely surprised.

Smriti’s Career Gained Momentum Just At The Age Of 9

Smriti Mandhana was picked for Maharashtra state Under-15 team just when she was 9-years old. By the time she was 11 she made her place in the Under-19 team. The early start she got into competitive cricket has surely led her towards immense success.

First Indian Women To Score Double Century In ODIs

Mandhana is also the first Indian women to score a double century in One-Day Internationals. In 2013 she amassed a massive score of 224 off 150 balls against Gujarat in Under-19 tournament.

ODI Debut Just At The Age Of 17

Just at the age of 17, Smriti made her ODI debut against Bangladesh in April 2013. She scored 39 runs off 36 balls in her first match and became the highest run getter for India in that game. She has time and then proved her potential and now she has even achieved the milestone of 10 ODI centuries.

Second Highest Run Getter For India In ODIs

Smriti Mandhana sits at the second position for as highest run getter in ODIs amongst all the other women cricketers in India. She has 4209 runs in 97 matches, this includes 10 centuries and 30 half centuries.

ICC Honour And First To Hit Fastest Fifty

Smriti has been named twice in ICC Women’s T20I Team of the Year that is 2018 and 2019 respectively. She is the only Indian player to have achieved this incredible honour. She also has the record of fastest fifty in Women’s T20 Internationals by an Indian player. The incredible milestone came in 2019 against New Zealand in just 24 balls.
