Renowned Film Editor Nishadh Yusuf was found dead in his Panampilly Nagar apartment, Kochi. As per a report by PTI, the body was recovered at 2 am, and the prima facie hints at suicide by hanging.

The tragic news was shared by The Film Employees Federation of Kerala Directors’ Union. Taking to their official Facebook handle, the federation wrote, “The sudden passing of Nishadh Yusuf, a pivotal figure in shaping the future of contemporary Malayalam cinema, is a loss that the film industry will struggle to come to terms with. Our deepest condolences from the FEFKA Directors’ Union.”

Nishadh had been an integral part of the film industry, with contributions in films such as ‘Thallumaala’, ‘Chaaver’, ‘Unda’, ‘Saudi Vellakka’, ‘One’, ‘Operation Java’, ‘Bazooka’, and the most recent one ‘Kanguva’ – starring Suriya. After the news came out, Suriya shared on note on social media platform X, to condole the death of Nishadh. He posted, “Heartbroken to hear Nishadh is no more! You’ll always be remembered as a quiet and important person of team Kanguva.. In our thoughts and prayers..! My heartfelt condolences to Nishadh’s family & friends. RIP.”

Before Suriya, the production house Studio Green, which has been behind the Suriya starrer, also paid their tribute on social media. “We are deeply shocked and saddened by the sudden passing of our beloved editor, #NishadYusuf 💔 Your talent, dedication and vision were invaluable assets to our team and your absence leaves us with a profound void. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family and friends during this difficult time,” read the statement shared by the production company.

One of his last projects, Kanguva, was announced by Suriya last year. It is scheduled to release on November 14 and also features Bollywood actor Bobby Deol and Disha Patani in crucial roles.

Nishadh has several honors to his name for his commendable work in the editing industry. The most prominent ones include 2022 Kerala State Film Award for Best Editing for Thallumaala. He was also felicitated with Critics’ Choice Film Awards in India 2023.
