Hwang In-beom returned from injury to play for Feyenoord during their 6-2 victory against FC Twente in the Eredivisie at Grolsch Veste on Sunday. Hwang entered the match as a defensive midfielder after his month-long injury absence to play for 27 minutes before witnessing his team defeat Twente 6-2 and achieve fourth league position. The match became Hwang’s first game under manager Robin van Persie after Van Persie succeeded Brian Priske as Feyenoord’s manager. The timing of his arrival allows the team to get ready for the approaching March international stoppage.

Hwang In-beom Returns In Time For Crucial World Cup Qualifiers

Hwang In-beom plays his first match just before the March international break which enables him to play two critical World Cup qualifiers with the Korean national team. The Korean national team has two World Cup qualifying matches scheduled for Thursday against Oman followed by Jordan on March 25. During Feyenoord’s 30 games this season Hwang In-beom played a crucial role in the midfield and recorded two goals while earning eight assists. His consistent performance has earned him a spot in the national team since he made 66 appearances. The third round qualifiers played by Hwang since September last year have established him as a vital player for Korea’s progress.

Korea Bolsters Squad For World Cup Qualifiers Amid Key Absence

Tottenham’s Son Heung-min joins Hwang at European clubs when accompanied by Lee Jae-sung of Mainz and Lee Kang-in of PSG. Hwang excels in the midfield position through his ability to defend while making inputting destructive passes that start counterattacks. The Korean team must play without their essential centre-back Kim Min-jae because of his injury. The national team will get reinforcement from Kim Ju-sung from FC Seoul following the injury replacement of centre-back Kim Min-jae. Manager Hong Myung-bo selected both Jung Seung-hyun of Al-Wasl and Cho Yu-min from Sharjah FC to train with the squad. The Korea national team will host two upcoming qualifiers with Oman playing in Goyang then hosting Jordan during their match in Suwon.
