National Conference (NC) chief Farooq Abdullah on Saturday lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP government at the Centre over the killing of police personnel in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora.

“It’s sad. The government says everything is hunky-dory. When police personnel aren’t safe, how is a common man?” ANI quoted the NC chief as saying.

Two policemen were killed in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Friday after terrorists fired at them at the Gulshan Chowk area. The injured policemen were rushed to a nearby hospital where both of them succumbed to injuries.

The deceased cops were identified as Selection Grade constable Mohammad Sultan and constable Fayaz Ahmad.

According to the reports, immediately after the terror attack, the police, CRPF and Army men rushed to the area and launched a cordon and search operation to track down the attackers responsible for the attack.

Meanwhile, the Kashmir Police IG Vijay Kumar and General Officer Commanding of Army’s Kilo Force, Sanjiv Singh Slaria today chaired a joint meeting of security officers in Bandipora, a day after terrorists shot dead the policemen in the district.

Jammu and Kashmir DGP Dilbagh Singh and IG Vijay Kumar also visited the residence of constable Muhammad Sultan Dar who was shot dead by terrorists yesterday, in the Sopore area of Baramulla. “Police have received some initial clues and are working on it,” the DGP said.

‘China occupying Indian territory’

Alleging that China is occupying the Indian territory, Farooq Abdullah further said that the Government of India is not allowing the discussion in the Parliament. “China’s occupying our territory, does the Government of India allow discussion in the Parliament?” the NC chief said.
