Facebook’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg has announced that Fan Groups, an enhanced variant of the Facebook Groups experience for creators and communities for online Facebook Gaming and live streaming.

The Gaming fan groups will mainly aim at helping online streamers, who they are referring to as Facebook Gaming creators and their fans to develop a bigger club and a more expansive community area during and apart from live streams. This is a great move in the direction to improve the experience for the audience as well as the creators who spend several hours each day streaming content from their laptops, PCs, and mobile devices.

Facebook App’s Head honcho, Fidji Simo, says in a statement that the company recognizes that there is a lot that goes on into building a community and an audience for gamers and live streamers. Until now, creators had a fragmented experience trying to grow communities outside of their live streams. He also said that creators are fostering a deep relationship, they are helping to build brands, making money while selling merchandise, and doing much more. With the advent of Gaming Fan Groups, the prime intent is to be a place where creators & their communities can come together under the virtual roof to connect in a meaningful way during live streams as well as before and after them.

Fan groups can help creators get organized, help them set genres, if not done already, get better responses to their discussions and move them to the dedicated chat channels. Facebook will also be launching a new type of post, Looking For Players, which will help gamers connect with other gamers from across the globe without ever having to leave Facebook. It will also help community members increase engagement specifically during live streams to make live alliances at preset points or chat with a complete stranger and form a bond. Facebook will also allow creators and community members to earn and display badges from the fan group. It also helps recognize contributions as per engagement and frequency of users.
