Ex-Andhra CM Chandrababu Naidu breaks down, vows not to step into state Assembly until he wins elections

Telegu Desam Party (TDP) president and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday broke down at a news conference and vowed not to step into the state Assembly until he wins the elections.

In a choked voice and wiping his tear, Naidu accused MLAs of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) of humiliating him by making personal remarks about his wife Bhuvaneswari.

The leader of the opposition said that he never faced such humiliation in his political life and equated the state Assembly to “Kaurava Sabha”.

‘Tolerated all the humiliations during the last two-and-a-half years’

Saying that his wife never interfered in politics, the TDP chief blasted YSRCP leaders for dragging her name and resorting to character assassination.

I tolerated all the humiliations during the last two-and-a-half years but the ruling party crossed all limits, he said adding that speaking ill about any woman only reflects on the character of the person speaking.

“My wife never interfered in politics even when her father N.T. Rama Rao was the chief minister and when I served as the chief minister for a long term,” Naidu said.

The former Andhra Pradesh CM expressed hope that his wife will file a police complaint against YSRCP MLAs for resorting to character assassination. He said she should even take it up with the women’s commission, reported IANS.

Naidu seeks support from the public in this fight against ‘dharma’

The TDP chief further urged the people to extend support to him in this fight for ‘dharma’.

On Thursday, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy took a dig at Naidu in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly, wondering why the latter shied away from the House.

My people tell me it’s the Kuppam effect that has kept Naidu away from the House, said Reddy.

The TDP faced humiliation as the YSRC trounced it in the elections to the Kuppam Municipality, bastion of Naidu, on Wednesday.
