Ex-Amethi MP doesn’t even know how to sit in temple: Yogi Adityanath’s ‘Hindutva’ jibe at Rahul Gandhi

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday took a swipe at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi saying that he does not even know how to sit in a temple and knows nothing about “Hinduism or Hindutva”.

Addressing a public rally in Gandhi’s former Lok Sabha constituency Amethi, the Uttar Pradesh CM said, “Former MP from Amethi (Rahul Gandhi) doesn’t even know how to sit in a temple. The priest of the temple he had visited had to teach him how to sit. He doesn’t know what is Hinduism or Hindutva, and he is doing false propaganda.”

Mounting his attack at the opposition, Adityanath said that not a single leader or the national president of Samajwadi Party, Congress or Bahujan Samaj Party came forward to help the public during the coronavirus crisis.

“During the corona period, no worker, leader or public representative of SP, Congress, BSP; from their national president to general worker no one was standing for the public,” he said.

“As soon as elections come, these people come here. They will disappear for four and a half years after the elections and will not be seen again,” he added.

He also launched an attack at the opposition over its “divisive politics” and said that those who have “disintegration and division” in their genes cannot call themselves Hindus.

“Those who have always adopted divisive politics, disintegration and division are part of their genes, whose ancestors used to say that we are accidentally Hindus, they cannot call themselves Hindus,” the CM said.

“We are not hiding anything and we don’t have any hesitation. When I was not CM then also I used to say this and today also I’m saying this and will always say this that everyone should proudly say that they are Hindu,” he said.

Adityanath also accused the previous governments of playing with the faith of Hindus by bringing anti-communal law in the country.

“By bringing anti-communal law in the country, they wanted to imprison the Hindus of this country, wanted to play with their faith and they used to call themselves a Hindu during elections,” he said.

“We are Indians and Hindus are our cultural identity. We should feel proud about this,” the Chief Minister said.
