India is in dire straits with the second wave of the novel coronavirus wreaking havoc nationwide. It has been deemed to be much worse than how things were when the pandemic struck in early 2020. Hence, the number of positive cases has been on the rise whereas the death toll has also seen an upward spiral since early April 2021.

In the last 24 hours, the deadly Covid virus has infected over 3.84 lakhs people in India whereas a staggering 3,498 have died to the invisible enemy, as per a report in NDTV. Thus, the whole country is struggling and has found support and sympathy from many foreign celebrities in such testing times.

Among the cricketing fraternity, the likes of Brett Lee, Pat Cummins, Shoaib Akhtar, David Warner, Babar Azam and many others have already extended their support to the country, fighting the Covid-19 crisis. Sunrisers Hyderabad and Afghanistan’s spin-bowling all-rounder Rashid Khan also joined the bandwagon and shared a heartfelt post from his official Twitter handle for India.

He wrote, “Everyone back home in Afghanistan is with you INDIA in this tough time. Please, everyone, stay safe stay home maintain social distance, and Wear Mask plz Folded hands #WeAreWithYouIndia”

Rashid was rising up the ranks in early 2017 when he got his maiden IPL contract, for INR 2 crores, and was bought by the SRH franchise. Since then, he has remained an integral part of the one-time winners and has a huge fan-following in India.

Talking about Rashid’s run in the ongoing IPL 2021 edition, he has accounted for nine wickets at an economy rate of 6.16 and an average of 16.44. However, the David Warner-led Orange Army has been having a torrid run in IPL 14. They are currently languishing at the bottom of the points table, with only one win from 6 games.

They will next face Rajasthan Royals, in Delhi, on Sunday (May 2).
