Every time Shah Rukh Khan got embroiled in a legal issue

Shah Rukh Khan is a superstar and there’s not a soul who will deny it. From the charisma he exudes on and as well as off-screen, SRK’s wit, acting sensibilities and humour can leave anyone in awe and he doesn’t take more than a minute to sweep a woman off her feet.

But apart from his brilliance on the big screen, SRK has also had his own share of controversies and trouble. Most recently, SRK has been in news after his son Aryan was taken into custody by the Narcotics Control Bureau. He was on a cruise ship when a drug raid was busted by the agency and Aryan has been taken into custody since then, and will remain so until October 7.

Although Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan have chosen to stay quiet on the matter, various celebrities have spoken in favour of SRK as well as Aryan and the witch-hunt against him. We’re now looking back at a few other times when SRK had a tryst with legal issues.

Airport Detention

Not once, but Shah Rukh has been detained by authorities thrice in seven years. In 2016, SRK made his way to Los Angeles International Airport. Things were eased out for the actor only after the Indian Embassy intervened with the state department and the department of homeland security. Although an exasperated SRK penned his thoughts on Twitter, the US ambassador had Tweeted, “Sorry for the trouble at LAX @iamsrk We are working to ensure it doesn’t happen again. Your work inspires millions, including in the US”

IPL Controversy

Shah Rukh got into trouble back in 2012. Now addressed as the Wankhede fiasco, SRK allegedly assaulted the stadium officials in a ‘drunken state’ at the cricket stadium. His team had won the match that night and he noticed that one of the officials was reportedly manhandling his daughter. ‘Acting the way any father would,’ SRK went on to argue. And eventually, the Mumbai Cricket Association banned SRK for 5 years.

My Name Is Khan

The 2010 film that eventually became a hit became a topic of controversy before its release. It so happened that SRK criticised the fact that members of the Pakistani cricket team weren’t a part of that year’s IPL. Protests were held and Shiv Sena threatened to shut down theatres. SRK responded by saying, “What did I say that was wrong? All I said was that I wanted people to come to my country.”
